UPS SPSF
Smart Package Smart Facility
This project was both DESIGN + RESEARCH.
There were wearables involved and a mobile application.
The intent of the devices was to be able to scan packages quickly and efficiently while also being able to track and manage misloads.
The Results: Were able to increase users time and efficiency by over 50% by using the ring scanners, and saving business revenue by over %50 in doing so.

OBSERVATION + HUERISTICS
Conducted Observations and Hueristics on existing applications
Went out into the field to understand how the wearables are being used and
how misloads are being captured
Presented findings to PM and team
Began designing an MVP based on the existing Pilot application and results
Onsite Research
Conducted on-site research at the facility .
Observed users on their daily tasks
Interviewed them to understand user pain points
Observation
Observed the wearables to understand better how they are being used, and any conflicts with user experience we can adjust

Loader Research Results
RFID scanner on the wrist makes the glove uncomfortable
Worry that radio waves are harmful
Some simply don’t want to wear it
Results
Increased user time and efficiency by 50% by ability to have them use the wearables and manage misloads
Increased business revenue by 45% through the ability to track misloads quickly through the wearable and mobile application
Supervisor Research Results
Glove detects packages with multiple 1Zs
Loading without it risks misloads and packages “seen not linked”
Defect: beeps with no misload, so loaders may become desensitized and find it irritating
*note that some of the following management was tracking, and as a result was in the works of ajusting
Prototyping -
Next was beginning to prototype.
Our team started with the menu where we were able to consolidate some of the navigation items based on need
Then we began working on more complex flows, for managing mis loads and notifications
Working with SME and Product team we developed flows for notifications and managing mis loads.
Users had the ability to view, edit and remove misloads
Managing MisLoads
There was also a need for users to manage notification handling.
This helped users also continue to manage loads
Notifications
Users were also to be able to conduct audits both on the vehicle and metal tag audits
Audits
Users were also to be able to conduct audits both on the vehicle and metal tag audits
